Svein Harald Øygard

Svein Harald Øygard held the position of interim Central Bank Governor of Iceland in 2009, following the crash. Between 1990 and 1994 he was the Deputy Minister of Finance in Norway and took part in the team that addressed the Norwegian banking,- macro and currency crisis. He held the position of International Corporate Strategist at McKinsey & Company for 21 years, with a one-year break to become interim Central Bank Governor of Iceland. He joined McKinsey in 1995, was elected partner in 2000, director in 2006, and led the company’s Norwegian business from 2005 to 2007. He served clients within the energy and finance industry as well as the public sector in Europe, America, Asia and Africa.
