ABOUT THE SPEAKER(S)
Frederic de Mariz
Executive Director at UBS
Executive Director at UBS, responsible for the coverage of Financial Institutions in Latin America. Frederic has 15 years of experience in investment banking in London, New York, Mexico City and São Paulo, where he now lives. Prior to joining UBS, he held positions at JPMorgan and Goldman Sachs. His team has been consistently ranked among the top 5 in independent industry surveys, such as Institutional Investors and Starmine. Frederic launched the Impact Investing effort of UBS Latin America in 2015. His team was ranked #1 in Impact Investing by Euromoney 2017. His areas of expertise include financial services, FinTech and impact investing. He is a member of the Brazilian private equity association (ABVCAP), the Brazilian Banking Association (FEBRABAN), the Brazilian Social Impact Bonds Committee and was an advisor to several Boards of microfinance institutions in Brazil. Frederic has Master’s degrees from Columbia University (International Affairs), Sorbonne (History), Sciences Po. (Public Policy), and ESSEC (MBA). He completed his PhD in Finance at University of Sao Paulo, analyzing how financial services can lead to improved financial inclusion in Brazil. He has published a number of academic articles and teaches on a regular basis. Frederic has been living in Brazil for the past 10 years.
